These 582,357 statues of the Pagoda are everywhere, from inside the Pagoda to the miniatures scaling the sides of the building. The place was built in the 14th century and was renovated in 1939 again and is still well-looked-after in its golden form. The luxurious devotion is slightly different from the rest of the temples in Myanmar, in the sense that it’s entrance is not guarded by lions.

Thanbodhgya Pagoda has a remarkable history. This temple gave refuge to many people during the second world war. In the course of Tazaungmone, the 8th month of the Burmese almanac which marks the culmination of the rainy season and the start of the winter (generally November) the pagoda festival is organised with musical presentations, dancing, lots of food and sellers vending their merchandises.
The structure is spread over 15 hectares of grounds. On these big grounds of the temple complex are a very beautiful main pagoda, a huge prayer hall and many small structures. The entry gate to the ground is crowned with a seven tiered Pyatthat roof top. And two gate elephants guard the main gates of the temple. The Thanboddhay is just a few kilometers away from the massive Buddhas of the Maha Bodhi Ta Htaung religious foundation.
